Unreinforced Pile Columns (Rigid Inclusions) Analysis for Industrial Facility

Abstract: Due to insufficient bearing capacity and significant settlement risks at an industrial facility project in Esenyurt, Istanbul, soil improvement was implemented utilizing "Unreinforced Pile Columns" (Rigid Inclusions). This study proves that SETAF2018 delivers highly reliable results, even when compared against complex three-dimensional numerical analyses (PLAXIS 3D).

Technical Solution: The soil profile consists of clay and fill layers characterized by locally low bearing capacities. Soil improvement was implemented within the scope of the project using 80 cm diameter unreinforced pile columns. Utilizing the SETAF2018 module, both the improved soil bearing capacity and ultimate settlement values were rigorously analyzed.

Why SETAF2018? Modeling complex three-dimensional soil-foundation interaction is typically a time-consuming process that requires extensive computational resources. With its user-friendly interface and rapid processing capacity, SETAF2018 generated results validated against PLAXIS 3D in a matter of minutes. The high correlation between our settlement analysis results and industry-standard software outputs elevates engineering safety to the highest level.
