Ground Improvement and Liquefaction Analysis for the Leyla Ege Project

Abstract: High seismic accelerations and the liquefaction-prone soil structure in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul necessitated ground improvement utilizing "Jet Grout Columns" to ensure structural stability. Conducted within the scope of the Leyla Ege project, this study documents the accuracy of SETAF2018 in critical liquefaction analyses by benchmarking its performance against PLAXIS 3D results.

Technical Solution: The liquefaction potential of the sandy units within the soil profile was meticulously analyzed utilizing the SETAF2018 module. Following the installation of 60 cm diameter jet grout columns, the bending moments in the raft foundation and total settlements on the improved soil were calculated using SETAF2018.

Why SETAF2018? In high-stakes calculations such as liquefaction analysis, where there is zero margin for error, SETAF2018 provides engineers with a workflow in full compliance with TBDY 2018 regulations. The consistent results achieved in comparisons with high-cost and complex software, such as PLAXIS 3D, once again confirm that SETAF2018 is both an economical and reliable engineering tool.
