Jet Grouting Against Liquefaction Risk and SETAF2018 Analysis

Abstract: High seismic acceleration and liquefaction-prone alluvial soil structures in the Istanbul Küçükçekmece district necessitated soil improvement via Jet Grout Columns. This study validates the accuracy of SETAF2018 in critical liquefaction analysis by benchmarking its results against PLAXIS 3D.

Technical Solution: The liquefaction potential of cohesionless units within the soil profile was analyzed using the SETAF2018 module. Total settlement and bearing capacity values for the improved ground were calculated based on the application of 18-meter-long Jet Grout columns with a diameter of 60 cm.

Why SETAF2018? In calculations where there is no room for error, such as liquefaction analysis, SETAF2018 provides engineers with a workflow fully compliant with the TBDY 2018 regulations. Comparative analyses with PLAXIS 3D yielded settlement results in the range of 6.2 cm, proving that SETAF2018 is both a rapid and highly reliable engineering solution.
