Cantilever Bored Pile Design and PLAXIS 2D Validation for Esenyurt Project
Summary: For the foundation excavation of an industrial facility designed in Esenyurt, Istanbul, a "Cantilever Bored Pile" system was preferred for a depth of -6.50 meters. In this case study, SETAF2018’s computational precision in complex soil profiles has been validated against PLAXIS 2D, the global industry standard.
Technical Solution: Bored piles with a diameter of 80 cm and a length of 12.00 meters were utilized in the analyses. The pile spacing has been optimized at 1.20 meters. In the analyses performed via the SETAF2018 module, base heave at the excavation level, the bending moment envelope of the wall, and lateral displacement values were calculated within seconds.
Why SETAF2018? The engineering team completed iterations that would typically take days through manual calculations in approximately 15 minutes using SETAF2018. The fact that the deviation in bending moment values remained below 2% during cross-checks with PLAXIS 2D has once again proven the reliability of SETAF2018.
